Gautam Adani: At the 6th Bengal Global Business Summit, CM Mamata Banerjee addressed the crowd, saying that the state will set up a 72,000-crore industrial zone in Jangalmahal.
On Wednesday, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, stated that the Adani Group will invest nearly 10,000 crores or more in Bengal over the next decade.
Adani Group’s proposal
Gautam Adani addressing the summit said,” The Adani Group’s investment in Bengal will span world-class port infrastructure, state-of-the-art data centers, undersea cables that will connect them across oceans, centers of excellence in digital innovation, and massive fulfillment centers, warehouses, and logistic parks. We will continue the expansion of Adani Wilmar Fortune, which is already a household name in the State. All in all, over the next decade, we expect our total investment in Bengal to exceed ₹10,000 crores.”
Adding that, the proposed investment is to create nearly 25,000 direct and indirect jobs for the people of West Bengal.

After a gap of two years after the Covid pandemic, various business representatives, and leaders participated from 19 different countries, including Bangladesh’s Commerce Minister Tipu Munshi and Bhutan’s Minister of Economic Affairs Loknath Sharma.
72,000-crore industrial zone in Jangalmahal
Taking about the industrial zone in Jangalmahal, CM Mamata Banerjee said that the forested areas of south Bengal districts along the eastern freight corridor will see development, and she has readied a policy on the grant of shale gas exploration licenses. “We have allocated 2,483 acres of industrial land at Purulia for the project along the eastern freight corridor from Amritsar to Dankuni,” she said.
