For the thirteenth day in a row, fuel prices remained unchanged on April 16th, 2022, according to the Energy Information Administration. The state-owned oil marketing companies have failed to update the diesel price in recent days (OMCs).

The cheapest petrol is currently available for purchase in Port Blair for 91.45 rupees per litre, while the most expensive petrol is currently available for purchase in Parbhani, Maharashtra for 123.47 rupees per litre.
Hardeep Singh Puri, the union minister for petroleum and natural gas, said that the union government has requested the state to reduce the VAT rate on petroleum and diesel in order to provide relief to consumers. “Our goal is to keep prices under control,” the minister said to the media.
Therefore, the Centre slashed excise duty on petrol and diesel last year and asked the state government to do the same.
