Two children and a female teacher died after a gunman opened fire at a kindergarten. After the incident, he shot himself.
On Russian Tuesday morning, an armed man opened fire on a Kindergarten school in Russia’s central Ulyanovsk region. The incident led to the death of one female teacher and two children. Later the Russian attacker killed himself.
The region’s governor Alexei Russkih said, “A terrible tragedy happened in the Veshkaimsky district. It’s an irreplaceable loss for all of us.” The head of the Ulyanovsk region information department, Dmitry Kamal, told AFP that the investigators working at the scene are yet to establish the precise information about the incident.
The gunman, however, has been identified as Ruslan Akhtyamov, aged 26.
The age group of the children is unknown, but they are speculated to be three-year-old and six-year-old, respectively. The identity of the female teacher is anonymous, and reports suggest that another teacher was wounded. Source from the Law Enforcement told news agency TASS that the shooting may have been due to ‘domestic violence.’
According to the telegram channel, Baza – Akhtyamov walked during nap time, and there was no security guard outside the nursery school. Preliminary investigation says the gunman used an Izh-27 double-barreled shotgun, which was not registered under him, rather, was under the name of some other man with a hunting license.
He fired the gun at the students and teachers. Later Ruslan Akhtyamov killed himself. Russia’s Investigative Committee, in its statement, stated that they had launched a criminal probe into the shooting.
