Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his official Europe tour attended the 2nd Nordic-Indian summit in Copenhagen, Denmark which primarily focused on issues like economic recoveries, climate change, renewable energy, and the evolving global security scenario

Prime Minister, Narendra Modi attended the second India-Nordic summit in Copenhagen, Denmark, yesterday. The summit included the discussions regarding partnerships in various sectors like post-pandemic economic recoveries, climate change, renewable energy, and the evolving global security issue.

The summit witnessed the partnership of all the Nordic countries. Prime Ministers of Denmark, Finland, Iceland, Sweden, and Norway, were present at the summit. The summit followed separate discussions between PM Modi and Prime Minister of each of the Nordic countries.

This was the 2nd Nordic-India summit held between the leaders. The first Nordic-India summit was held on 11 April 2018. The summit commenced in Stockholm, Sweden.

Before attending the India-Nordic Summit, Modi met PM(s) of Germany and Denmark

PM Modi is on his official Europe tour. He began his trip by visiting his German counterpart in Berlin. German chancellor, Olaf Scholz, and PM Modi held discussions regarding many topics including, Green and Substantial Energy partnership. This was the 6th India-Germany Inter-governmental discussions.

Later he visited Copenhagen to hold bilateral talks with the Prime Minister of Denmark, Mette Frederiksen.

Bilateral talks with each Prime Minister of the Nordic countries

Earliest in order, Prime Minister Modi held discussions with the Prime Minister of Norway, Jonas Gahr Store. The primary focus of the discussions was on: Blue Economy, Renewable Energy utilization, Health sector, cooperation in building and restoring water bodies in India. PM Modi further, invited Mr. Jonas Gahr Store to pension funds in India’s growth story.

Then the second meeting was between PM Modi and Prime Minister of Sweden, Magdalena Andersson. Both the leaders discussed about the cooperation in clean technology and sustainable solutions. India invited Sweden to invest in India’s clean technology and sustainable solution.

The 3rd meeting commenced with the Prime Minister of Iceland, Katrín Jakobsdóttir. The PM of Iceland and PM Modi discussed the cooperation in the field of geothermal energy. The discussion also included the various aspects of geothermal energy including, research, training, skill development, and innovation in this space. Further, this year India and Iceland are celebrating 50 years of their bilateral relations.
