At the age of 73 years the United Arab Emirates (UAE) President Sheikh Kharifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan passed away. On Friday, the presidential affairs ministry has proclaimed 40 days of mourning, with flag at half-mast-mast. The burj kharifa was built in Sheikh Kharifa’s honour. Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed has been elected as the new President of UAE. India’s Vice President Venkaiah Naidu will extend condolences to the UAE.
History
The biggest Emirates of UAE is Abu dhabi. Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan was the 16th ruler of Abu Dhabi,UAE. All other Emirates like Dubai, Sharjah, Ras-al-Khaimah, Umm-al-Quwain and few others established the current UAE. Abu Dhabi being the largest of all Emirates so the ruler of Abu Dhabi was made the President of the newly formed UAE in the year 1971.
Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan was the second President of UAE after his father. Sheikh Khalifa’s father, Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan, was made the president of the United Arab Emirates in 1971.
India-UAE Relations
India’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi received the UAE’s highest honour, the “Order of Zayed” in 2019. This award was given by the younger brother of Sheikh Zayed Al Nahyan i.e Sheikh Mohamed Bin Zayed. He was then called the Prince and is now the new President of UAE. Sheikh Khalifa had lot of his personal assets of more than 830 arab dollar. This is 18% more than the total budget of Pakistan.
From this he funded UAE to deal with financial crisis in 2009. As a honour for his act, world’s highest skyscraper was named after him.35% of UAE’s population is Indian and only 15% of its population is Emirati. UAE’s 8% population comprises of Hinduism and 1.8% is of Buddhism.
The Emaar group of Dubai is going to develop a shopping mall of 500,000 Sq ft in Srinagar. Flights started from Sharjah of UAE to Srinagar. For Russian payments, Indian businesses take UAE route to fulfill the mechanism of trade between rupee-rouble. It offers a money market to fluorish where multiple currencies are converted freely.
