On NH-53, India set a Guinness World Record for building the longest stretch of road, 75 kilometers, in a record time of 105 hours and 33 minutes, according to Nitin Gadkari, Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways. Under the AzadiKaAmrutMahotsav
Nitin Gadkari, the Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, said that India has joined the Guinness World Records for creating the longest continuous stretch of multilayer concrete road. The National Highways Authority of India’s (NHAI) consultants and franchisee partnered with Rajpath Infracon Pvt Ltd and Jagdish Kadam to create a 75-kilometer stretch of bituminous concrete in a single lane on National Highway 53.
The 75 kilometers of single-lane road are believed to be comparable to 35 kilometers of paved shoulder road. The road was built on a part of NH-53 between the Maharashtra districts of Amravati and Akola.
“Proud Moment for The Entire Nation!” Gadkari tweeted, congratulating the entire team. I am overjoyed to congratulate our outstanding team of NHAI, Consultants & Concessionaire, Rajpath Infracon Pvt Ltd, and Jagdish Kadam on setting a Guinness World Record by laying 75 kilometers of continuous Bituminous Concrete Road in a single lane on the NH-53 segment between Amravati and Akola. I’d like to express my gratitude to our Engineers and Workers, who worked tirelessly day and night to achieve this incredible feat.
On June 3 Around 800 NHAI staff and 720 Rajpath Infracon workers began working on the project at 7:27 a.m., and the project was completed after 105 hours and 33 minutes at 5 p.m. on June 7.
“The Amravati to Akola segment is part of the national route 53, which is an important east-west corridor,” Union Minister Nitin Gadkari stated, emphasizing the importance of the newly completed road. It runs between Kolkata, Raipur, Nagpur, Akola, Dhule, and Surat, among other key cities. It runs through an area of our country that is mineral-rich. I’ve been told that almost 35% of the work on this length, from Amravati to Akola, has been done, and nearly 65% of the work on the Akola to Chikli segment has been completed.
“As a result of this accomplishment, commuters will be relieved, traffic will flow smoothly, and the travel time will be cut in half.”
The previous Guinness World Record for creating the longest stretch of bituminous concrete road was set on February 27, 2019, by the Public Works Authority, Ashghal, Qatar, for a 27.25-kilometer road that was part of the Al Khor Expressway and took ten days to finish. The road was part of the and took 10 days to complete working 24/7.
