The American President Biden was heard criticizing the US Supreme Court for implementing “terrible decisions”, the day after the constitutional right to abort was struck down. During a ceremony held on Saturday for a gun safety bill that he supports, he commented on such criticisms, although he continued to sidestep questions regarding the reforms to the court that were sought by a few democrats.
Biden after signing the bill said, “I think the Supreme Court has made some terrible decisions” after a press report questioned him regarding whether the court was broken. Other questions he was seen to avoid, such as on filibuster reform or on other court dealings, before flying off to Europe for international summits.
By renewing his condemnation of the Supreme Court’s final terrible decisions in the case of Roe v Wade he started his remarks on guns. He addressed the people saying that he will do his best in his limit of administration to enforce what laws still stand. Between this bracket comes laws such as allowing people to cross the state lines in order to seek health services.
With his first lady Jill Biden with him, he said, “Jill and I know how painful and devastating the decision is for many Americans.” Further, he continued, “We are going to take actions to protect women’s rights and reproductive health.”
The president has raised a red flag concerning the executive authority that is substantially limited, leaving him very few, almost no options to fill the gaps created by the Roe v Wade case being overturned. Though there are not enough votes that seem promising at this point, Biden did call on Congress to pass a law codifying the Roe v Wade case. And for such to happen, there aren’t sufficient votes in the current congress, and for voters to elect more Democrats.
Apart from this, Biden has taken to himself making sure and directing the Department of Health and Human Services to make mifepristone, an abortion drug prescribable. And through pharmacies making sure that insurers don’t stop covering contraceptives, that includes emergency contraceptives. This was reported by an official on Friday who was said to be familiar with all the processes.
The official added that the right to travel and look to intervene in cases on behalf of all the people facing ongoing legal action for traveling to receive an abortion. This will be supported by the Department of Justice.
