Season 1 of Spy x Family, first cour has come to an end with episode 12, ‘Penguin Park’ being the last/finale episode.
The Spy x Family cour finale begins with a new character’s introduction. She is seen working at a shop in the train station. Loid then enters the frame, accepting a new mission in the train station from an aged shop lady.
Whereas Yor and Anya discuss lunch plans because Yor will be late. Yor is taken aback by how much work a medic can have, but Anya is aware that her father is pursuing a weapons trafficker.
Later that night, Loid returns home with a tired expression on his face. As he enters the building, he hears some of the nearby women discussing theories about him cheating on Yor, making Loid determined to solve the problem.
To make the family seem like a normal happy family, Loid decides to take Yor and Anya for a family outing. Loid can barely stand after draining all of his energy to complete his missions. Yor begs him to rest, but Loid insists on accompanying them to make the neighbors stop gossiping.
When they leave, they find the same neighbors conversing outside their apartment. Anya reads Loid’s mind as he considers his plan to make it appear that his family is very happy and normal. She repeats his words as naturally as she can.
“Father takes me out to play and mother is kind to father. Th3y are both very good people! I think my family is very normal!,” says Anya to the neighbors. Loid is aware that what she says seems forced, but he prefers to go along with it and leave the neighbors behind.
Loid aka Twilight notices his insignia when he arrives at the train station, indicating that he has another mission for the day.
He goes to speak with the shop old lady in charge of informing him of his missions, wanting to decline the mission at first. However, when he gets to know that the mission is at the same aquarium he is visiting with his family, he agrees.
The Forger seems to be having a good day, especially Anya. Loid is aware that he will have to leave his family behind for a short time in order to complete his mission, but he is relieved because the neighbors are nowhere near them.
Loid’s happiness is cut short when their neighbors show up at the aquarium. Yor immediately invited the neighbors to join them. Loid has no choice but to take everyone to see the penguins in search of the bird that might contain the chemical weapon plan.
As they reach the penguin park, Loid has a hard time identifying the Penguin which might contain the plan. Anya helps him by finding the penguin. She spots one who was coughing and looking sick.
As a disguised employee for the penguin exhibit, Loid uses all of his skills to reach the penguin with the plans as quickly as possible. After finally being able to approach the creature, he asks permission to take it to the infirmary.
Loid was retrieving the plan when someone else comes up and asks him to pass the penguin to him. Realizing that the work card is fake, Loid puts up a fight.
The terrorist escapes but on his way Anya confronts him. She latches herself to his coat and yells, “Mom I am getting kidnapped.” Yor hears her and rushes towards the terrorist. She kicks him, sending him flying through the ceiling and allowing Loid to capture him later.
The scene cuts to all of the leaving, the Forgers waiting for Loid’s return. Loid comes back with a huge penguin plushie that he won at a game for Anya. This silences the neighbors who were trying to convince Yor that Loid is a cheater.
The Forgers return home, and Anya takes her penguin plushie to meet Director Chimera in her room. Agent Penguin-man joins Anya’s secret organization, after a cute ritual ceremony that serves as an excuse for Anya to eat peanuts.
Anya shows the penguin around her house/ secret base. Loid becomes angry when she attempts to enter her parent’s rooms after he had already warned her to stay out of there. Both parents are concerned that she will be hurt because of the various dangerous weapons in their rooms. However, Anya is too busy crying to notice their concern.
To make Anya stop crying, Loid takes the role of the penguin plushie and Yor, a robot. Anya seizes the opportunity and compels a trip to the candy store. The episode ends with Anya holding a new bag of peanuts.
Spy x Family 2nd Cour
Season 1 of Spy X Family will be a split-cour production, with the first cour consisting of 12 episodes and the second cour consisting of 13 episodes, which means a total of 25 episodes this season. The first cour concluded on 25th June after a 12-week run that began in April.
Along with the finale, a teaser for the second Cour of Spy x Family was released. The teaser revealed the new mission that Loid will undertake as well as a mysterious character named Keith, who is known to be the villain in the upcoming arc.
The second season will premiere in October 2022. The precise date will be revealed at a later time. According to the preview, Spy X Family 2nd cour will completely adapt the Bond arc, which covers chapters 17 to 23 of the manga.
