The son of bureaucrat Sanjay Popli who was arrested in a corruption case, died of a gunshot wound. The police claims that the son died by suicide but his father claims that his son was murdered.

“My son was killed in front of me. I am an eyewitness of my son’s death,” Sanjay Popli said. He also claimed that his son was shot by the officials.
The Punjab Vigilance bureau had arrested IAS officer Sanjay Popli for allegedly demanding bribes in exchange of clearing tenders for laying sewage pipelines. The 27 year old son of Sanjay Popli was also under arrest under a graft case. The vigilance team was at the arrested officer’s home to carry out a raid during which they seized several gold and silver coins, cash, mobile phones,and other electronic devices.The arrested bureaucrat’s wife told the media that the vigilance officials pressured them to give false statements that would support their case.
Reaction of the Cops.
Chandigarh’s Senior Superintendent of Police Kuldeep Singh Chahal said that after verifying all the details it has come to the fore that the 27 year old boy had shot himself dead. He died himself of suicide. A licensed pistol was used in the incident, said the SSP.
Sanjay Popli’s wife’s reaction
Sanjay Popli’s wife told reporters, “The Vigilance officials were pressuring us and they were even torturing my domestic help to give false statements in support of the case they have registered. My 27-year-old son is gone. He was a brilliant lawyer. They have snatched him”. “To build a false case, they snatched my son—Kartik Popli is gone,” said Sanjay Popli’s wife, showing blood spots of his son on her hands. “I want justice. I will move court,” said the wailing woman, repeatedly crying “my son has been killed”.
