Since the morning when the votes began to count AAP was made its grip on the votes. They were in the lead from the start. And the number of votes increased on their side as more votes were counted. In the afternoon AAP led, followed by BJP and Congress was one with the least votes. On Thursday, approximately 72,000 votes were polled for the by-election which in percentage is 43.75%. After counting all the votes election officials declared the results.
AAP celebrating their victory
After APP won, Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal thanked the citizens of Rajinder Nagar by saying that they successfully defeated the dirty politics and supported the good work of AAP.
The Aam Aadmi Party supporters started celebrating their victory after the results came out in front of the counting centre of Rajinder Nagar. As they been assembled there since morning.

Congress chose Prem lata as their candidate for the respective position. Congress got the least votes. Prem lata was very behind from BJP and AAP as she got only around 2000 votes.
AAP is considering the results as Kejriwal 2.0 government after the 2.5 years at the occasion of the referendum.
What BJP said about their loss
BJP MLA Ajay Mahawar said that the party leader and party organisation did their best and worked very hard during the electioneering. We got more votes as compared to the year 2020 but we didn’t expect this result. “We will conduct an analysis to find out the reasons for the defeat,” said Mahawar.
Another reason for party loss can be the lower turnout of electorates in the by-election, said BJP leader. In the 2020 assembly election, the turnout for the constituency was 58.3%. In 2017 was (46.5%) at the Rajouri Garden by-election and the Bawana by-election was (44.8%) as per the reports.
A BJP leader said the turnout in the by-election was low which may have also contributed to the party’s loss. In the 2020 assembly election, the by-election turnout was even lower than the turnout reported in 2017 As AAP already has the majority of seats in the Delhi assembly which is 62 seats of the total 70. So, the power equation will not get affected by the results. But it will serve as a barometer of the government’s popularity in Delhi.
Political analysts say that the result is the indicator of public mood after the collaboration of municipal corporations. It was also the very first election after the pandemic Covid-19. A couple of BJP leaders also said that the recent anti-encroachment drives carried out in different areas of Delhi may have also antagonised a section of voters.
Furthermore, the result indicates that the Congress party is falling apart and losing its grip over the people of Delhi. As they were last ruled in 2013 and till now they aren’t able to come back nor able to get a seat in the assembly since the 2015 assembly elections.
To sum up, this article explains the reason for the BJP’s loss according to the party leaders and how AAP is celebrating the victory.
