Malayalam actor Vijay Babu was arrested in a sexual harassment case, granting anticipatory bail to actor Vijay Babu, High Court allows police to interrogate from 9 am to 5 pm from June 27 to July 3.
On Monday, Kochi city police of Kerala arrested Malayalam actor Vijay Babu for reportedly raping a teenage actress.
Since the High Court of Kerala had permitted him anticipatory bail in the case, he will be allowed released on anticipatory bail.
Deputy Commissioner Police of Kochi city U V Kuriakos tells that actor Vijay Babu’s arrest has been registered. Actor Vijay babu will be taken to several places in Kochi city, where the reportedly rape took place, to collect evidence.
The High Court of Kerala, while permitting anticipatory bail to Vijay Babu, had authorized the police to interrogate him from 9 am to 5 pm from June 27 to July 3.
According to the High Court
The High court had directed that if the police were to arrest the Malayalam actor-producer Vijay Babu, the Babu should be free on a bail bond of Rs 5 lakh, each with two secure sureties of an equal amount.
The actor should not absorb in any kind of attack against the accuser or his family through social media or other means. He said that he should not leave Kerala without the permission of the High court of jurisdiction.

A sexual assault case was lodged against the actor on 27 April. Thereafter, he fled the country fearing arrest. After being granted protection from arrest by the High Court, Actor returned to Kochi city in the last week of May.
After coming back from the Middle East, Actor Babu appeared before the police for interrogation and said that he had a mutual relationship with the accused.
He alleged that the actors had turned against him after she was failed roles in his films. Seeking anticipatory bail, Babu had submitted his social media chats with the woman to substantiate his claim.
Malayam actor Vijay Babu has also been booked for exposing the identity of his accuser on the social media platform. The High Court of Kerala had rejected his anticipatory bail plea in the second case, as it had observed that the offenses against him were un-bailable.
