Washington police confirmed that last weekend an eight-year US boy killed a baby, while playing, with his father’s gun, accidentally shot dead a baby and injured his infant sister in Florida. Â
According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, the father, 45-year-old Roderick Randall, was detained and charged with concealing evidence, unlawful firearm possession, and culpable lack of care.Â
The tragedy, which is all too often in a nation where guns abound, happened in a motel where Randall met his fiancée. Randall had a criminal record that prohibited him from carrying a pistol.Â
During a press conference, the cops claimed that at one point Randall left his weapon “in the closet” and went outside. While the girls’ mother was asleep, his son discovered where it was concealed, pulled it out, and began playing with it.Â
According to authorities, the event occurred Saturday night at the Lion’s Motel in Escambia County and resulted in the arrest of the 8-year-father, old’s Roderick Randall.
According to WEAR-TV, Randall, 45, was arrested on Sunday and taken to the county prison on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a handgun, culpable negligence for leaving a loaded gun nearby where a child could easily access it, destroying evidence, and improper firearm storage.
According to Escambia County Sheriff Chip Simmons, Randall, his son, his girlfriend, and the woman’s three small girls were sharing a room at the motel on MLK Jr. Drive.
In the United States, hundreds of youngsters are exposed to loaded, unattended firearms every year through backpacks, handbags, nightstand drawers, and other commonly used hiding places. The American government should implement laws regarding the possession of arms immediately.
