Suriya becomes the first Tamil Actor to be invited to join the Oscars Committee and has accepted the invitation. Actor-Filmmaker Kamal Hasan Congratulated the Actor for this Achievement!
South Indian Actor Suriya received invitation to join the committee of Academy of Motion pictures Arts and Science on Tuesday. The Actor posted a Humble Message on Twitter accepting the Invitation. Suriya has become the first Tamil Actor to Join the Oscar’s Committee following his two international recognized Films Soorarai Pottru and Jai Bhim.
The Academy of Motion pictures Arts and Science Released their list of Academy Class of 2022 with names of 397 artists on Tuesday which included Suriya’s name. Remembering the Academy Awards 2021 Suriya’s legal Tamil drama Jai Bhim was shared on the Oscars YouTube Channel written as the ‘scene at the academy’.
The Academy announced its new members as it shared the list of Class of 2022 on its Twitter Account. 397 artists and executives has been invited to join the Oscar’s Membership in 2022. The list included 71 Oscar nominees, 15 winners with 44% invites being women and 37% of group belong to underrepresented communities.
The other Indian Celebrities apart from Suriya in the list were Kajol and Film maker Reema Kagti who is known for her films like Gold, Made in Heaven among the other projects.
The Actor Shared a Humble Message for his well-wishers and tagging the Academy accepting the invitation. The Actor Wrote, “ Thank you @TheAcademy for the invitation,which I humbly accept. My heartfelt thanks to all those who wished me, will always strive to make you all proud”.

Actor and Film maker Kamal Hasan Congratulated the Actor for achieving the recognition and making him Proud. Kamal Hasan Wrote, “Glad my brother @Suriya_offl tends the ground of stars. In spite of gravity, which makes sings weak. We created angels and stars. Hence be proud brother to join the crowd of excellence”.

Suriya was recently seen playing an important Character as a Cameo in Kamal Hasan’s latest release, ‘Vikram’. He played a Character named Rolex, after this Kamal gifted the Actor his Rolex watch worth Rupees 47 lakh to thank the Actor for his 10-minute guest appearance in the Film.
Suriya will be soon make his Bollywood Debut as an Producer for the Hindi remake of his internationally recognised film ‘Soorarai Pottru’. The remake will have Akshay Kumar and Bhumi Pednekar as Leads. It was revealed that the Actor recently played a Cameo role in a Hindi Film which remains untitled.
Suriya is currently shooting with Filmmaker Bala for a Tamil Film which will mark he reunion of both of them after two decades. They last worked in 2003 for a Tamil film Pithamagan.
