Nine persons have been detained for Gun Racket
Under the Arms Act, including one who was creating and selling single-barrel muzzle-loading firearms created in the nation in Tumakuru illegally. A news announcement claimed that 42-year-old Krishnappa, a resident of Durgadahalli Halekote in the Urdigere Hobli of the Tumakuru taluk, was manufacturing and selling weapons without a licence. He was a carpenter who kept some explosives and the raw ingredients needed to make SBML rifles in his home.
The price of the locally produced weapons ranges from Rs 10,000 to Rs 20,000. Constable Kiran TH filed a complaint, and a case was opened under the Arms Act. Police detained licence Krishnappa and removed one locally-made gun, along with some gunpowder, from his home. He was also restoring both new and old weapons.
The other people detained were Chikkanagaiah, Shivaraju, Narayana, Narasimhamurthy, Narasaraju, Siddagangappa, and Maruthesh TV, who bought firearms from Krishnappa. Each had a gun made in the nation seized by the police. Police also detained Mohammed Ayaz Ahmed, a 54-year-old Balanakatte welder who is suspected of joining metal pipes used to make the firearms.
