Haryana Congress protested the Agnipath project across the state on Monday, including the Opposition Leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda heading the march in Rohtak. During the day’s rally, Hooda, a former state chief minister, alleged that the Agnipath initiative will undermine the country’s army and diminish its workforce.
- In response to the Haryana government’s declaration that Agniveers will be given stable employment,
- Hooda challenged the Haryana government’s history of providing jobs to ex-servicemen who retire each year.
Congress leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda said on Monday that the Agnipath plan for military recruiting will degrade and lower the Army’s manpower. He stated that Haryana will be among the states severely hurt by the plan.
Haryana will be among the states severely hurt by the programme.” India had 4 lakh troops when it gained independence, which has grown to 14 lakh in the subsequent 70 years.
For the previous three years, the Army has been unable to fill two lakh positions due to a lack of recruiting. Instead of recruiting new hires, the government has devised a strategy to gamble with the youth’s future.
If this proposal is executed, our army’s strength would eventually be reduced to roughly 6 lakh personnel. This will have a devastating effect, particularly on Haryana. Every year, 5,000-7,000 Haryana youngsters were recruited into the Army. If there had been consistent recruiting for three years, around 20,000 youth would have been recruited.
However, just 963 Agniveers would be allowed under the Agnipath plan, with 75% of them being driven into unemployment after four years, according to Hooda. Protests opposing the Agnipath project were also organised by Congress leaders and workers in various regions of the state.
On Monday, the opposition party launched a “satyagraha” throughout all Assembly constituencies in the country, seeking the revocation of the “Tughlaqi” (fanciful) decision to implement the Agnipath project.
Deepender Singh Hooda, a party leader, told a rally in Rewari that the policy should be withdrawn immediately since it is “not in the national interest.”According to the leader of the opposition party in the Haryana Assembly, India cannot simply ignore its safety worries because it is bordered by Pakistan on one side and China on the other.
According to Bhupinder Hooda, the Agnipath programme is neither in the country’s interest nor in its security. It’s not even in the best interests of the Army or the youth, he claims.
