What is I2U2?
The first virtual ‘I2U2’ summit also known as the ‘West Asian Quad’ aims to mobilise private sector capital and expertise to help modernise the infrastructure, low carbon development pathways for our industries, improve public health, and promote the development of critical emerging and green technologies.
The Leaders will discuss the possible joint projects within the framework of I2U2 as well as the other common areas of mutual interest to strengthen the economic partnership in trade and investment in our respective regions and beyond. These projects can serve as a model for economic cooperation and offer opportunities for our businesspersons and workers.
From the Indian Perspective:
New Delhi and the other three nations have had their share of disagreements on occasions, through this meet these issues will be sidelined. Keeping in line the larger perspective of the meet, the issues such as the rise in terrorism, world-wide disparity and other social causes will be addressed.
Moreover, it will be interesting to witness the impact it has on the military upgrades of India, as it partners with the two giants in the production of military equipment. India will also shift its focus to build stronger ties with the UAE as New Delhi grapples with the rise in prices of petroleum.
It will be a significant turn from the traditional grouping as it will bring the Central Asian countries into the focus. Though its implications on the world’s politics are yet to be seen, India seems positive as it takes baby steps towards development.
