Iran athlete Hamed Amiri won Gold in Men’s Javelin Throw- F54 with a throw of 31.35m; this brings the 10th gold medal for Iran
On Friday, Iran athlete Hamed Amiri won Gold in men’s javelin throw F54 with 31.35m. By this, Iran sealed its 10th Gold in Tokyo Paralympics 2020.Through this, Amiri also smashes the men’s javelin F54 category world record.
Russia Paralympic Committee (RPC) ‘s Aleksei Kuznetsov got the Silver with 31.19, and U. S athlete Justin Phongsavan claimed the bronze medal with a throw of 31.09. Amiri dedicated his gold medal win in Toyo Paralympics 2021 to Major Gen. Qasem Soleimani.
Amiri’s Achievements
Earlier, he represented Iran at the 2016 Summer Paralympics in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil and won the Silver in the men’s shot put F55 event.
In the 2019 World Championships, he won a gold medal in the men’s javelin throw F54 event. Through this, he got qualified to represent Iran at the Tokyo 2020 Summer Paralympics in Japan.

Long jumper Amir Khosravani, shot putter Mahdi Olad, javelin throwers Hashemiyah Motaghian and Seid Afrooz, powerlifter Rouhollah Rostami, judo athlete Vahid Nouri and Mohammad Reza Kheirollahzade, shooter Sareh Javanmardi, and archer Zahra Nemati are the other nine gold medal winners of Iran in Tokyo Paralympics 2020.
In the Tokyo 2020 Paralympic Games, Iran is the leading Middle Eastern state with 20 medals, followed by Turkey with 15 medals. At present, Iran won 10 gold medals, nine silver medals and one bronze.
The covid pandemic causes a delay in the 2020 Paralympics, thus held in 2021, which will finish on Sunday. Iran has put forth heroic effort at the international competition for disabled athletes and is in the 17th position with 20 medals.
