Titanic is one of the Most iconic Film of all time, breaking many records. The film has something unknown that you should know! It’s almost 25 years since the iconic film’s release, but RMS Titanic is a topic that is still in everybody’s mind. To know the unknown, let’s go back to the Era!
During Production, the film was named “Planet Ice”
Great Hollywood Director James Cameron used a induce title in case other studios were making films about the RMS but the fake title didn’t stop Leonardo DiCaprio fans from assembling near the gates of Fox Baja Studios in Mexico during filming.
Titanic is the second film on RMS Titanic to win Oscar for “Best Picture”
In 1933, Frank Lloyd’s Cavalcade bagged the same award, along with Oscars for Best Director and Best Art Direction. 1997’s Titanic Film won 11 Oscars, including Best Original Song.
Leonardo DiCaprio was often spotted with his pet lizard on the set.
The name of the lizard was Blizzard, imagine being a pet lizard to a future Oscar winner and one of the most handsome Actors.
It costs more for Titanic Film than the actual RMS Titanic
Cameron and his Company spent over $200 Million at that time to make the Titanic Film while the actual RMS Titanic costs over $7.5 Million.
Kate Winslet was also the one who convinced Dicaprio to say yes for Jack Dawson
In the 1998 Rolling Stone interview, Winslet revealed that she slipped out of a press junket to have a talk with DiCaprio during the Cannes Film Festival.
In 2016, DiCaprio shed some light on that conversation and says, “We’d done all of these independent movies. I loved her as an actress and she said, ‘Let’s do this together, we can do this.’ We did it, and it became something that we could’ve never foreseen.”
Madonna was considered to be “Rose”
In 1996, winning the Golden Globe award for best actress Madonna was one of the most demanding actress at that time but 19 year old Kate Winslet was the one to win the ticket to titanic.
The door on which Rose floats on is real!
The door in Titanic is a larger version of a wooden panel that had split in two following the disaster. In 2018, the artefact will made his way from the Maritime Museum in Halifax, where it’s been kept for decades, to the UK’s Victoria and Albert Museum for an exhibition called Ocean Liners: Speed & Style, which vows to celebrate “the golden age of ocean travel.”
Before DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt and Jeremy Sisto were strong consideration for Jack Dawson
The role of Jack Dawson had many players like Tom Cruise, Brad Pitt, and Jeremy Sisto. (Jeremy even did a screen test with Kate Winslet, but obviously did not get the best test results.) But Leonardo DiCaprio won the ticket to the titanic and the rest is history.
Gloria Stuart was the only one in the film cast who was alive at the time of titanic.
Stuart was almost 2 when the RMS sank in the Atlantic ocean. In 1998, she also became the oldest Academy Award nominee at 87 when she was up for Best Supporting Actress. (Unfortunately, she lost to Kim Basinger, who won for L.A. Confidential.)
The Oscar Nominations for old rose and young rose made history
Titanic was the first film to have two cast members, Winslet and Stuart, nominated for playing the same role. Sadly, both lost in their respective categories at the 1998 Oscars, but the film won 11 Golden Statues (Oscars) in many other categories.
