Earn with Learn is a novel initiative launched by Tripura Government under the scheme “Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan”, translated as Let’s Go to School. The aim is to re-enroll students who were unable to complete their education due to the pandemic.
Vidyalaya Chalo Abhiyan was launched on April 4 by the UP Government in order to ensure a great percentage of enrollment in elementary and upper primary classes. This need for revival of the Abhiyan was essential in order to make sure that no citizen is deprived of pursuing their education. To ensure successful enrolling, students from the third year would conduct surveys and report the number of dropouts during the Covid-19 pandemic.
A backdrop of the Dropouts
The pandemic increased the number of dropouts. As per the analysis by Ratan Lal, Tripura education Minister, over 9,000 students who belong to the age group of 6 to 14 (classes I to VIII) dropped out from 4,3000 schools around without any details of their return.
The success of the scheme was shared by Sandeep Singh, Education Minister, “More than 40 lakh new children have been enrolled. The process of enrolment in schools is in progress.”
When compared to the enrollment in the year 2016-17 which was 1.52 crore, there is an exponential rise to 1.90 crores for the academic year 2022-23.
The Highlights of “Earn with Learn”
- Aim: Ensuring that the initiative lends a hand to bringing students back to school, after the completion of the survey by following the objectives of the new education policy.
- Scope: An action plan to prevent the increased number of dropouts, and ensure a better rate of enrollment in the future years.
