Attend Tiranga Rally: The parliamentary affairs minister requested MPs from all parties to participate in the exercise at 8.30 am while briefing reporters following the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday. However, he stressed that it was a ministry program and not one of his party.
Union minister Pralhad Joshi has announced that the culture ministry will organize a “Tiranga bike rally” for MPs on Wednesday morning from Red Fort to Parliament and has urged participants from all political parties to attend. The parliamentary affairs minister requested MPs from all parties to participate in the exercise at 8.30 am while briefing media following the BJP Parliamentary Party meeting on Tuesday. However, he emphasised that it was a ministry program and not one of his party.
J P Nadda, the head of the BJP, laid out a number of exercises for the party members to participate in over the course of a week-long program beginning on August 9 and ending on August 15, the 75th anniversary of India’s Independence. Nadda instructed party members to participate in a “prabhat pheri” (morning procession) between 9 and 11 am to raise awareness of the “Har Ghar Tiranga” campaign, while Joshi said that the party’s youth section will conduct a “Tiranga yatra” on bikes across the nation.
Between August 13 and August 15, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has invited everyone to fly or otherwise display the national flag at their residence as part of the campaign. Between August 11 and August 13, party members will also perform a “prabhat pheri” down to the booth level while singing songs like “Vande mataram,” the national anthem of India, or “Raghupati raghav raja Ram,” which was Mahatma Gandhi’s favorite devotional hymn.
Nadda called for work to develop the organization during the week in booths where the BJP has not performed well in recent elections. He also asked MPs to make sure they are present at party programs. Additionally, on August 14, the gathering will commemorate the Partition Horrors. In remembrance of the difficulties and sacrifices made by people during the country’s division, Modi had made the announcement the previous year, stating that the sorrow of partition could never be forgotten.
The BJP president noted during the meeting the success of the party in recent elections, especially the municipal elections in Madhya Pradesh. To receive a briefing before the vice presidential election on August 6, the party MPs will reconvene on August 5 for a meeting. The candidate of the ruling National Democratic Alliance, Jagdeep Dhankhar, is expected to win the election since he has the support of a large majority of the electoral college, which is made up of all MPs. The united opposition candidate is veteran Congresswoman and former governor Margaret Alva.
