The Twin towers of Noida, the highest structure in India, are demolishing this Sunday. With the authorities performing a mock drill today, the plan is to demolish the whole tower in 9 seconds.Â
The controversial twin towers of Noida, Apex, and Cyane, made by Supertech, are planning to be demolished on August 28th. The towers are taller than Qutub Minar and become the highest structures for demolishing in India. Authorities informed us that it’ll take 9 seconds for the destruction at 2.30 PM on Sunday.Â
RWA VP announced, “Lights, elevators and water supply to be shut down post-evacuation. All maintenance staff will be evacuated to a safe zone, along with residents in nearby societies. We are expecting a no man’s land by 12pm. Blast will be done at 2:30 pm, after which govt agencies will conduct an inspection”.
Ganesh Shah, the DCP for traffic in Noida, informed that they are managing the traffic schedules.
It will not cause the public any inconvenience. “Traffic planning is in the final stages. The road in front of the twin towers closed a few days ago. All the connected roads will also close on the day of the demolition,” said he.
Structure Materials Demolish and Evacuation Plan
The Evacuation plan suggests that more than 5000 residents will have to vacate the premises by 7:30 am on August 28th. They can return only after safety clearance from the officials.
According to Edifice Engineering partner Utkarsh Mehta, the explosives will take nine to ten seconds for their detonation in a succession. Naturally, the destruction will create a lot of noise and the impact cushions will decrease the vibrations.Â
The explosive wire connections, which have been installed on every floor, will be completed within the next two to three days.Â
The authorities will be using almost 3,700 kilos of explosives for the destruction of the twin towers of Apex (32 stories) and Cyane (29 stories).
The destruction will lead to an approximate waste of 35,000 cubic meters as debris. The clearing of it would take at least three months.
Last year it was decided by the Supreme Court that the Supertech twin towers were to be demolished as they were built illegally.
