TOP 10 INDIAN MOVIES OF 2022

After a moratorium of over two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, 2022 has given some major hits so far either in theatrical releases or on the digital platform. Here are a few best top blockbusters movies from Asiana Times.

10. Gangubai Kathyabadi (Netflix )

    

     

Based on a chapter from Hussain Zaidi’s book, The Mafia Queens of Mumbai, Directed by Sanjay Leela Bhansali shows the journey of Gangubai, played by Alia Bhatt, who was forced into prostitution at an early age. She goes on to become a fierce madam of the brothel and a political leader in Kamathipura enhanced by the beautiful visual set design and melodious music. The film also stars Ajay Devgn, Shantanu, Vijay Raaz, Seema Pahwa, and Indira Tiwari in pivotal roles.

Directed by Suresh Triveni, casting two powerful actresses Vidya Balan and Shefali Shah starring Jalsa , whether it be highlighting the stark class differences presented all around us, the accurate portrayal of a sensitive and complex condition like cerebral palsy or especially highlighting the concept of truth.

8. Hridayam ( Disney Plus Hotstar)

Helmed by Vineeth Sreenivasan, Hridayam is a romantic drama starring Pranav Mohanlal, Kalyani Priyadarshan, and Darshana Rajendran with a screenplay packed with 15 songs a movie that still can feel like a breeze, you know it’s something special. The story follows the life of a youngster named Arun Neelakandan from his college days to being a father.

7. A Thursday ( Disney Plus Hotstar )

   

 A Thursday, starring Yami Gautam as a schoolteacher in Mumbai, is an action-packed crime thriller. In the film, the school teacher has kidnapped 16 pre-nursery kids and is threatening to kill them one by one, if her demands are not met. The film creates great suspense. A must-pack of entertainment to watch. IMDb rated this movie 7.8 /10

6. Rocketry ( Amazon Prime Video )

A film starring and directed by R. Madavan , based on the several milestones of Nami Narayanan the film did not only highlight the false accusations of the revolutionary scientist but with great conviction showcases the leaps and bounds he took only for the scientific progression of INDIA as a nation with benevolent cameos by Surya and Shah Rukh Khan.

5. The Kashmir Files ( ZEE5 )

Vivek Agnihotri’s The Kashmir Files created the most noise upon its release. The film starring Anupam Kher, Mithun Chakraborty, Darshan Kumaar, Pallavi Joshi, and Chinmay Mandlekar, narrates the story of Kashmiri Pandits who were forced to flee from the Valley in the late 80s and 90s. The film was released in theaters on 11th March 2022.

This movie showcases courtroom dramas and questions several of our systems that are considered the mantle of truth or justice. The film speaks about several facts about our society today, the credibility of the media, trials orchestrated by them for ratings, and the shelf life of their news. A film with a lot to pack in, starring Prithviraj Sukumaran, Mamta, Sri Divya, Suraj Venjaramoodu, and many others directed by Dijo Jose Antony.

A film starring Sai Pallavi and Kali Venkat and directed by Gotham Ramachandran based on the imprisonment of the patriarch of a simple family and the daughter’s pursuit of justice for her father, whom she feels has been wrongfully accused and kept in custody, and the slow unraveling of events.

A film globally celebrated and rightly so was the sequel. A film that received unprecedented box office numbers, love, and cannot deny the conviction of a creator like Prashant Neel who went all out for this movie. It revolved around the turf war between Yash’s Rocky and Adheera, played by Sanjay Dutt. It was released in the theaters in many languages including Telugu, Kannada, Tamil, Malayalam, and Hindi. The movie also starred Prakash Raj, Malavika Avinash, and Srinidhi Shetty.

Action-thriller Vikram, starring Kamal Haasan, Vijay Sethupathy, and Fahadh Faasil in prominent roles, is a spin-off of a spy character created by Kamal for his 1986 action movie Vikram. Directed by Lokesh Kanagaraj, the film brings the former RAW agent out of retirement to check the growing menace of narcotics drugs in India.
