Pakistan 182-5 defeats India 181-7 by five wickets in Asia Cup Super 4 match on Sunday.
- Pakistan beat India by five wickets
- India reached 50 runs in 4.2 overs which is the fastest against Pakistan
- Kohli got run out in the last over scoring 60 off 44 balls
On an unlucky Sunday for India, Pakistan beat India by five wickets in a thrilling (disappointing for India) chase in Asia Cup Super 4 match on Sunday.
Pakistan had their luck right from the toss which they won and chose to field. Pakistan has confidently won matches before in Dubai chasing the score.
With a strategy to put India under pressure Pakistan bowlers began their rather ineffective attack. Indian openers Rohit Sharma and KL Rahul started the innings hitting big. In the first over itself, Rohit smashed a four and a six to dominate the other side.
In the third over KL Rahul made his intention clear by hitting two sixes off Naseem. The not so performing opening pair of India has made clear that in the big matches, the form takes care of itself.
India reached 50 runs in 4.2 overs which is the fastest against Pakistan. At this point it seemed like India may end up scoring well above 200.
Just when it started looking all too smooth for India, Rohit lost his wicket to Rauf’s slow delivery in the sixth over itself.
The Indian side was 62-1 by the end of the powerplay. Probably the biggest cricketer in the world right now, Virat Kohli, was welcomed by a wide-four over the keeper.
Pakistan bowlers keep control
Even before India could make a comeback, Rahul lost his wicket to Shadab trying to go for a big hit in the seventh over.
However, the two consecutive wickets didn’t seem to make much difference to India when Suryakumar Yadav came out to bat and hit the first ball he faced for a boundary.
The intention from the Indian side was clear; to play aggressive cricket fearlessly. Kohli took the charge from the other side and played some classic shots to keep the run rate running.
After smashing a couple of big hits, SKY went back to the pavilion trying to play a sweep shot.
Pakistan spinners kept the Indian side under control by bowling efficiently and taking wickets.
Hooda came and scored only 16 while Rishabh could score only 14 runs. Hardik, in a heart-breaking moment, went back on a duck.
Kohli got run out in the last over scoring 60 off 44 balls. Bishnoi’s back-to-back two four put the total at defendable 181-7.
