A woman namely Kavita and her friend Hitesh Jain murdered the former’s husband Kamalnath Shah, arrested.
Police said that she was mixing arsenic and thallium in her husband’s food. On September 3, he was hospitalised due to slow poisoning and died 17 days later on the 19th of September.
A case was registered by the crime branch against both the accused under sections 302, 328, and 120(B) of the IPC, and arrested them.
While treating Kamalnath, doctors conducted a heavy metal test of Kamalnath’s blood, and the report deepened the doubts of doctors.
The amount of arsenic and thallium found in his body was very unusual for any human being.
Doctors informed Azad Maidan Police which was further transferred to Santacruz Police Station for further probe.
The probe was handed over to Crime branch unit 9 instead of the Santacruz police station. The crime branch started an inquiry and collected all the medical reports including statements from family members, including the wife’s statement and information about Kamalnath’s diet.
For a long period, arsenic and thallium were mixed in Kamalnath’s food and drink. Because of slow poisoning, his condition continued to get worse. He was admitted to the Bombay Hospital and couldn’t be saved. A further probe is underway.
