Ahmedabad: Congress Youth Leader, Hardik Patel in a recent tweet shared that he has quitted Congress and his primary membership of the party after musting courage for a long time. He took this step ahead of assembly elections that are supposed to happen in November. Patel has joined Gujarat Congress in 2019. He was promoted to President of GPCC (Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee) in 2020.
The month’s long ongoing bitterness between Patel and Congress leaders has encouraged him to take this step. He shared about the nepotism factor, and party leaders working style for their own financial gains. “No one here wants to work for Gujarat, India, and Patidar Community. Congress’s only work is to oppose what Narendra Modi is saying or doing,” Patel said.
In his three-page resignation letter, addressed to Sonia Gandhi, Patel strongly showed his displeasure about Congress and their work. He stated Congress does not want to work for the people of Gujarat, for his community, or at the National level. They just like to create barriers for us when people were looking for solutions on issues like Ram Mandir, removal of Article 370 in Jammu and Kashmir, and implementation of GST (Goods and Services Tax).
He added, “big Congress party leaders are more focused on delivering chicken sandwiches on time to the ones who come from Delhi rather than solving state’s issue. Congress has diluted the national issues and seeks its own benefits. They are betraying the people of Gujarat.” Patel also removed Congress from his Twitter bio.
He also stated youth’s disproval for him to work as a Congress leader. “People used to ask me why I have joined a party who has disrespected Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and people of Gujarat related to in matters of business, politics or religion,” he said.
He has appealed to the people that he hopes that they will welcome his step, and he will work forward for Gujarat’s people’s interest. He was seen praising BJP in his tweet. Although, AAP leader Italia has proposed an offer to Patel to join AAP.
Patel has gained fame in 2015 after he went against the government and asked for reservations for his (Patidar) community.
