On Wednesday morning an air alert has been declared in and around the capital of Ukraine, Kyiv. Residents were urged to get in bomb shelters as soon as possible.
A regional head administrator head Oleksiy Kuleba on Telegram wrote, “Kyiv region air alert. Threat of a missile attack. Everyone immediately went to shelters”.
The Russian forces have thawed as per the agreement for Humanitarian corridors, Russian forces will stop firing from Moscow time 10 a.m. for the Ukrainians to flee from Kyiv, Kharkiv, Chernihiv, Sumy and also Mariupol.
Across Ukraine, thousands of people are considered to have been killed including civilians and soldiers in two weeks of fighting.
Russian troops have advanced deep along Ukraine’s coastline. The city of Mariupol, which sits on the Azov Sea, has been surrounded by Russian soldiers for days now.
According to the UN, so far, more than 2 million people have left Ukraine and taken refuge in its neighbouring counties like Poland, Romania, Slovakia, and Hungary. This is the fasted growing refugee problem since World War 2.
Moscow’s military have surrounded Ukrainian cities and are attempting to build escape routes for civilians.
Ukrainian authorities say 21 people, including two children, were killed in airstrikes on the town on Monday.
