Referring to 1990 Kashmiri pandits exodus and movie ‘The Kashmiri Files’ Gulam Nabi Azad in Jammu where he was facilitated earlier today with ‘Padma Bhusan’ said that Political parties create divide 24*7 and are roots of almost every problem and that too every other political party do it including mine.
He also slammed Pakistan for the terrorism and instability in valley and called it responsible for the suffering people faced irrespective of the religion, he added people from all the religions have suffered in last few decades due to the neighbouring country.Â
He also told the reason behind him coming to politics, he said he didn’t join politics due to congress but the real reason of him coming to politics was father of nation Mahatma Gandhi, Gandhi was biggest Hindu he said but he was also secular and no one is ‘non-secular’ just because they worship this was proved by Mahatma Gandhi himself, he even died performing pooja but still was a secular, he added.                                        Â
Why Nabi Hinted Political Retirement Â
Nabi in function also hinted his political retirement along with showing dissatisfaction for his party Congress he said, it should not be surprising if you see me leaving the politics soon and go to social work. He also showed his dissatisfaction in Congress and instead of defending the party he compromised party’s stand in the issue.Â
But this dissatisfaction is not overnight but instead he is unhappy in Congress for a very long time now. Actually he is a part of G-23 an unhappy leaders’ group inside Congress and have been demanding the change in leadership for a long time now.
This demand became more furious after the humiliating defeat of Congress in 5 states assembly election but still Congress Working Committee (CWC) took decision of going on with the same leadership. Thus, more rift between these two groups inside Congress.Â
Also, Nabi’s retirement was long way contested since his tenure in Rajya Sabha got over and his rift with Congress party started but still Congress cannot afford to lose such an experienced leader that too when Congress is going through lowest phase of all time.
On the contrary there is no such damage control shown by Congress in this response, Nabi also addressed the most talked about movie in recent times ‘The Kashmiri Files’ he said all religions have suffered equally in valley due to Pakistan and that time was the worst we can imagine and one should never forget.Â
