Bhutto-Zardari and his Chinese counterpart meet after the Goa meeting of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, only to reek of hypocrisy.
China’s affection of the Indian border issue with Pakistan has been long enduring. This time the Chinese foreign minister Qin Gang had a two-day Pakistan visit reiterating their old song of the UN charter and the security council along with some bilateral agreements and how India should be adhering to these while dealing with the Kashmir issue. Instigating India-Pakistan border issues is one of the reasons China has befriended their poor counterpart, to divert Indian attention from the real issues
Recently the external affairs minister Dr S . Jaishankar was seen strolling over a Goa beach after the strenuous SCO convention and after remarking Pakistan foreign minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari to retract their illegally occupied territories of the Jammu and Kashmir. One can surely expect Beijing to assert its views in Indian matters for they have been following the Western pattern as an after-shock of being enslaved by them in the past and maybe they are unaware of the fact that they are so engrossed in competing and involved in overtaking them that they have become the West.
Beggars aren’t choosers, no one loves them either
On the part of Pakistan, their intellectual capabilities could be considered as drained since they forget how everyone had isolated them in their loan-seeking times including their all-weather friend and that their Chinese counterparts had gone long to the extent of closing their consular office in Pakistan.
Pakistan a nation that holds a nuclear missile in one hand and a begging bowl in the other expects the self-interest-driven Beijing to be with them, invest, and enhance the China-Pakistan economic corridor, the Islamic republic feels they are safe from the belt and the road initiative and that they should be having a strong large fire breathing dragon by their side if war breaks out.
China had invaded Tibet in 1949 and loved skirmishes near the Indian border while engaging the small island nation of Taiwan in a war-like situation is their new recreation, drills near their border in the Taiwan Strait and an all-encompassing demand on the South China Sea. Beijing has been following the old-world technique of controlling the trade routes while seamlessly fooling their poor friends burying them in loans they could never come out of and starting a new age of imperialism.
Nevertheless their imperialism has the characteristic of proxy sovereignty which they possess in their invested nations. Which they could use shortly against India, they would ramp up their military components in these debt-ridden nations and enjoy targeting their woes from a soil which isn’t their own.
The ‘Pauperistan’ and some of their intellectuals have agreed that their economic environment is due to the structural deficiencies of the government. Alas! They mean to say that only if they had not outpoured in terrorism, only if they had not invested in their intelligence which helped the terrorists more than them, and only if they had picked to have trade with India than their wolf warrior friends they would have been in a much different position. Nonetheless, Pakistan has undone its people who bear the brunt of their leaders’ mistakes. Their leaders prioritised their insecurity over their development which will now take years for them to do away with.
