Amul has decided to increase milk price by Rs 2 per liter in the market across the country. Now Amul Milk will cost Rs 30 per 500 ml, Amul Taza Rs 24 per 500 ml, and Amul Shakti Rs 27 per 500 ml in Ahmedabad and Saurashtra market from today, i.e. March 1.
Milk prices increased even in July 2021.
The Gujarat Co-operative Milk Marketing Association has increased milk prices before completing one year. Earlier in July 2021, milk prices were increased. After about seven months and 27 days, the prices are being raised. The company said that this increase is due to the rising production cost prices. The increased charges will apply to all brands of Amul milk, including Sona, Taza, Shakti, T-Special, and cow and buffalo milk.
Amul increased the price by 4% per annum in 2 years.
According to the GCMF, Amul has increased the prices of its new milk category by only 4% per annum in the last two years. This increase in prices is due to an increase in packaging, logistics, and animal feed cost, thus increasing the total milk handling and production cost.
The association distributes about 80 paise to milk production out of every Re 1 received from the customers. In this way, now the increase in prices will help in incentivizing cattle farmers to produce more milk.
