Bengali Filmmaker Anik Dutta‘s movie “Aparajito – The Undefeated” based on the life and works of the legendary Oscar-winning Filmmaker Satyajit Ray has been selected for screening at the esteemed Toronto International Film Festival slated to be organized at the end of this year.
Producer Firdausal Hasan stated that the directorate of the Toronto International Film Festival notified him about this recent development and that news of it being selected for screening is “a big honor” bestowed upon the movie.
Earlier this month, Jeetu Kamal the actor responsible for playing the titular character, and the make-up artists responsible for his transformation to look like the character were highly lauded for his appearance in the movie.
The movie orbits around the trials and tribulations Satyajit Ray faced while making his movie “ Pather Padabali”.
According to direct Anik Dutta, the film is a tribute to Ray on his 100th birthday anniversary that would convey the invincible voyage of one of the greatest filmmakers of all time and will pay tribute to his work and intellect that brought the Bengali cinema to the global stage.
Anik Dutta is already a well-renowned film director from West Bengal with some acclaimed movies to his credits such as “Bhooter Bhobisyot”, “Borunbabur bondhu” and many more.
Iconic film director Shyam Benegal showered praises on the movie after its special screening in Mumbai on 2nd May.
The film will also be screened at the London Indian Film Festival which will be held from June 17 to July 3.
