The city of joy sees another death. Kolkata is still not over the demise of the students of Jadavpur University and SSKM Hospital. Kolkata is shocked and devastated again by the tragic death of another student.
Case Details
On Monday, a student of class 10 of a private school in the Kasba area in South Kolkata was reported dead after falling from the fourth floor, according to police. The victim’s relatives filed a complaint at the Kasba police station, stating that the incident of the boy’s death was foul play. He was 16 years old and was studying at Silver Point High School in the Kasba. The School authorities took him to a private hospital in Mukundapur, where he was declared dead. The doctors at the hospital reported that the boy had endured several injuries after falling from a height. He was bleeding from his ears, mouth and nose.
The Victim’s Father and His Family Allegations
The student’s father said his son, with other classmates, was taken to the fifth floor by the teachers. All the other students returned, but his son did not. The father allegedly reported that his son had no fractures or broken bones despite falling from such a height. He said his son was taken to the fifth floor and then killed by the teachers. The student was unable to submit his project. The boy’s father accused the teachers of harassing him. The family members have accused two teachers of mentally torturing and humiliating him. It is still unclear whether the victim was pushed or had fallen from the fifth floor of the building.
The father questioned the school authorities, as they informed him that his son had fallen from the staircase and was well before reaching the hospital. The relatives also questioned the school’s decision to admit the child to a hospital that was seven kilometres away when there were many hospitals nearby.A source close to the victim’s father said that the boy was suffering from depression due to some Family issues, which was hampering his studies and was bothering him immensely, the source added.
The family of the child, had a heated argument with the teachers and school authorities who were present in the hospital. They wanted them to hand over the body to them. The body was sent for post-mortem later. The family have requested Chief Minister, Mamta Banerjee to look into the case and demanded justice for their shattering . The school authorities have responded by saying that they are investigating the matter. They also said that as an educational institution, they would never harm or harass any child as they encourage a safe and healthy environment for learning.

On this day, the Chief Minister, Mamta Bannerjee, also met the parents of the victim of Jadavpur University. They shared their anguish and concern. She promised to take strict action against the culprits.The police are still investigating the cases and a conclusion is yet to be reached.
