The helmet is an average comedy-drama that caters to the young audience and works mainly because of the up to mark performances.
The film is about a band singer named Lucky, a High-school pass in love with Rupali (Pranutan Behl) from a wealthy background. Rupali falls in love with Lucky. Lucky tries to woo Rupali’s dad.Â
Rupali’s dad wants a rich kid to marry her daughter. The only way left out in front of Lucky(Aparshakti Khurana), and his pals are to dream up and go against odd, which involves robbery, a whole stack of condoms, and a town where not one soul can look at a prophylactic without turning red.Â
Aparshakti Khurana on the way of his brother Ayushman Khurana
Aparshakti is a brilliant actor. We have seen him working in many movies like Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017), Stree (2018), Luka Chuppi (2019) and Pati Patni Aur Woh (2019) but as a supporting actor. He has come with a social concept as a lead in this movie.
His brother started his carrier with Vicky Donor, which was also a social comedy-drama. He looked promising and genuine in the film, but he has a long way to match his brother’s charismatic image. Â
Strengths of the movie
The acting of Aparshakti, along with Abhishek Banerjee, Ashish Verma, is a plus point of this movie. To engage the audience for almost 2 hours and make them laugh is a hard nut to crack. The trio of them did a brilliant job in this sector.
Their conversations seem to be local as usual and cater to those from the Hindi heartland. The writers keep the humour as family-friendly as possible, which is no mean feat given the subject.Â
Irreparable flawsÂ
Apart from comedy, there is nothing serious in the plot which can astonish people. A loose story was the biggest drawback of this movie. The cinematography was also not up to the mark. The forced romance between Aparshakti Khurana and Pranutan Bahl is very disappointing.
The climax of the film is the strength of the movie. But this time movie fails to impact the audience. Moreover, the writers haven’t given the nod to make this movie a must-watch by making the plot stronger.Â
Banal Soundtrack
A comedy-drama needs to have catchy songs with refreshing tracks. For Example, Kamariya in Stree, Pani the rang in Vicky donor which impacted the younger generation. The helmet, sadly, disappoints with its soundtracks as none of them was eyecatching. Â
Other aspects
The background music is simple and doesn’t add much to the reel action—dialogues such as ‘nirodh ka virodh’ work well. The editing needs an improvement as there was very much repetition of conversations.Â
MY TAKEAWAY
I liked the movie. Although its plot is week, it makes you laugh. Acting’s of Aparshakti along with Abhishek Banerjee and Ashish Verma is a watching treat. If you are an admirer of a comedy-based movie, then you can go with this. I can’t say this is a must-watch movie, but you can watch it once for refreshment. I hope you enjoy the film and comment on your takeaways.Â
