On Wednesday, the Chief Minister of Goa made a big announcement. He was firm on introducing the app-based cab service in the state of Goa. He said that I want to give you an assurance that in a few days app-based taxis will be available.” Previously, the transport minister of Goa Mauvin Godinho made a similar announcement where he said that he was keen on bringing an app-based cab service into the private taxi lobby.
As we have seen in many places, taxis fear app-based cab services because the taxi owners think that the private cab services will destabilize their industry to a great extent. As the taxi union has been offended because of the app-based taxis, Sawant has assured the public that the issue with the local taxis will be resolved soon.
As technology has been developing all over the world, app-based taxis have become very popular with time. This has immensely transformed the cab industry. People feel more comfortable and convenient while traveling in a pre-booked cab or app-based cab over a normal cab. The primary reasons behind this are the normal cab drivers refusing to ride, if the person is running late, they have no option to tell the cab driver directions if the director doesn’t know the directions.
The pre-booked ones have transparency and convenience and have given the person to choose between the many options. Looking at the current situation, the transport minister has given the consumer their freedom of choice. The transport minister is in favor of introducing app-based taxis in Goa.
Goa miles is a company that is in the same field as app-based taxi services. Over the years, it has managed to incorporate over 1500 taxis into the system. This has benefited the taxi drivers coming into the interiors of Goa. The primary demerit of it being the taxi services being hampered due to the physical force and rowdy behavior of the local cab drivers who have some or the other political backing and also union backing.
Legal sanctions should be taken against the same. Overpricing becomes an issue that is considered highly unethical. Public transport in Goa is no less than a nightmare, especially for the elderly population of Goa. The app-based taxi services will be more efficient. Therefore, it will be introduced
