Apple is testing E Ink’s Electronic Paper Display (EPD) for its future foldable iPhone.
For quite some time, rumors have circulated on the internet that Apple is working on a foldable smartphone. The latest report comes from Ming-Chi Kuo, a well-known Apple analyst at TF International Securities, who claims that the Cupertino-based tech company is testing an electronic paper display for its next foldable tablet.
E-readers like the Kindle have this style of display. After the big announcement by an analyst, Apple users are anticipating a big rollout of the foldable iPhone and its exciting user interface after the big announcement by an analyst. Kuo announced on Twitter on May 17, 2022, that Apple is testing E Ink’s Electronic Paper Display (EPD) for its future foldable iPhone. EPD will be used for the foldable’s “cover screen & tablet-like applications,” according to the company.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 3 and Galaxy Z Fold 3 are the most popular foldable smartphones in the market right now. In addition to the main display that unfolds, the Galaxy Z Fold 3 offers a huge cover screen. The analyst appears to be implying that Apple could adopt EPD for its foldable’s outer display, which is used when the gadget is folded.
Kuo further stated, “more about looks,” quoting it won’t be limited to black-and-white; newer E Ink models, like the third generation, feature full color and the ability to work with folding or scrolling displays. Kuo has quoted 2024 as the year when users will be able to use this functionality officially, most probably. The color EPD “has the potential to become a widespread solution for foldable smartphones’ must-have cover/second screen because of its exceptional power-saving,” Kuo writes in the second section of his tweet.
The analyst highlighted the EPD’s energy efficiency. Because it’s already difficult to fit all of a smartphone’s components into a foldable’s physical shape, there’s not much space for a battery. As a result, foldable cell phones can not yet have huge batteries. As a result, EPDs could be utilized as the secondary display on such devices to save power.
