‘Arnold’: A Limited Edition Biography
On 28th June, the biography of Arnold Alois Schwarzenegger was unveiled to the world in Los Angeles at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures.
Titled ‘Arnold’, the life story of the man with the most jaw-breaking surname is authored by Dian Hanson, an American publisher, and Editor. It’s not at all surprising that the book is going to be a two-volume biography, given the Austrian-born’s sprawling career and expansive experiences.
Hanson has chopped up the memoir of Schwarzenegger into four sections based on his sundry professions – Athlete, Actor, American politician, and Activist. The official printing of the book is to be done by Taschen Verlag, a German book publishing firm on 7th July 2024.
The prosopography of the actor, action hero, entrepreneur, director, governor, and ex-bodybuilder will be launched in three exclusive editions consisting of special, never-seen-before interviews and snapshots.
These limited editions of the books include – The Collector’s Edition costing almost INR 1,12,000 (the most economical out of the three!) and The Annie Leibovitz Art Edition (containing 100 copies) will be priced at a whopping INR 11,12,500. The most riveting stunt that the publishers are implementing is that the book will have only 1947 copies available of the many editions. This figure commemorates the birth year of Schwarzenegger.
Arnold: The Brawny Bodybuilder
Born on 30 July in Austria, Arnold was a sports aficionado from a very tender age. His most cherished games were soccer, swimming, and boxing.
When Arnie, as he’s called endearingly nicknames, turned 15, he set foot into the arena of weightlifting. Over time, Arnold sculpted his body in an envious physique and went on to win the most-coveted title of Mr Olympia, for six consecutive years!
The youngest Mr Universe, unashamedly confessed to consuming steroids to build strength and keep his muscles toned.
‘Arnold Strong’ Enters Hollywood!
1968 saw the megastar land into America and dazzle the Americans. He entered the threshold of the Hollywood industry by grabbing a debut performance in the talkie “Hercules in New York.” in 1969.
With the spirit of experimenting and exploring, Schwarzenegger solidified his footing in the film industry and befriended the likes of Woody Allen and James Caan. He also interacted with Jackie Kennedy and went on to tie the knot with Ex-Prez John F. Kennedy’s niece Maria Shriver in 1986
Winning the Golden Globe for Best Acting Debut in “Pumping Iron”, a docu-drama, Arnold became a celebrated name in the cinematic realm and starred in a plethora of action films and comedies.
Arnold: The Governor of California
The Biography will also delineate the 75-year-old’s stint as a politician. Running for the post of governor from California in 2003, he candidly admitted to the struggles he confronted in the new vocation
“As an actor, you can rely on the screenplay, but a politician doesn’t have one.” He elaborated on the capricious situations a government official has to deal with each day, nevertheless, serving two full terms in the office.
The Republican surprised his fans with a return to the big screens when he cameoed in the 2015 version of the film “Terminator”.
Adventurous Arnold becomes a Reformer!
Schwarzenegger’s life history would not be complete without focusing on his role as an activist and an emphatic proponent of climate change.
Speaking at the recent Austrian World Summit, a yearly conference on climate in Vienna, he expanded on his ideas supporting a shift from the conventional sources of energy and embracing the more sustainable and more technologically-advanced resource sources.
Arnold, known for his remarkable line in the movie- “I’ll beBack”, continues to stay active on social media and make news by engaging in fitness/acting/campaigning pursuits.
