On Monday, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said in case of a hung Assembly situation, AAP is ready to enter into a post-poll alliance to keep the incumbent Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) out of power in the state.
“If hung Assembly takes place in UP, we will go to the government and get all our guarantees fulfilled to keep BJP out. So don’t worry about the seats. Vote for AAP with great enthusiasm,” said Kejriwal while addressing a rally in Lucknow.
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) national convener began his two-day Uttar Pradesh tour yesterday to drum up support for party candidates in the ongoing Assembly polls.
He visited Lucknow, Barabanki, Prayagraj, and Gorakhpur. According to the party spokesperson Vaibhav Maheshwari, other election-related programs were also on his schedule.
“All surveys are indicating towards a hung Assembly in the state. In such a situation, we will ally with another party to keep BJP out of the government if needed. We will fulfill promises of free 24-hour electricity, better schools, and hospitals even by supporting another party against BJP in case of a hung Assembly. Hence, it is important that people should vote for AAP candidates to strengthen our party’s prospects,” Kejriwal said while addressing a public meeting here at Rifah-e-Aam Club.
The Delhi CM also addressed the recent attacks on his person by being called a ‘terrorist.’ “Tell me, does a terrorist build schools or hospitals? Does he arrange pilgrimage for the elders? The BJP conducted a raid at my house and office. They couldn’t find anything even with the help of all their agencies”.
“Am I a terrorist?” asked Kejriwal.
He reacted to allegations made by Hindi poet and former AAP leader Kumar Vishwas of AAP having links to separatist forces. Kejriwal said,
“a poet from Ghaziabad had a dream that Kejriwal was a terrorist. I came in his dream and told him seven years ago that I would divide India into two parts and become the prime minister of one”. He mocked the PM to remove agencies like RAW, NIA, CBI, ED as the poet can tell who is a terrorist and who is not.
Arvind Kejriwal also accused PM Modi, home minister Amit Shah, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and general secretary Priyanka Gandhi Vadra of calling him a ‘terrorist’ without finding a single shred of concrete proof despite ruling the country for so many years.
On February 23, the fourth phase of polling in Uttar Pradesh will commence. Pilibhit, Sitapur, Hardoi, Lakhimpur Kheri, Unnao, Rae Bareli, Lucknow, Banda, and Fatehpur will participate in this phase. It will decide the fate of 624 candidates in 59 Assembly segments. The results of the election will be declared on March 10.
