First of all, I’m grateful for how things went today. The time away from the game gave me a good opportunity to sit back and observe many things about myself. I mentioned one special person, Anushka, who was by my side during these difficult times and I mentioned her because she saw my raw side all these months. She was the one who put things into perspective for me, continued to give me the right kind of guidance, and the vision to move forward, and I came back into the system as a relaxed
person. It was all about enjoying the game, understanding the game, and what God has blessed you with.
Today was the latest games compilation, I honestly blew my mind and surprised myself. What surprised me was that my 60s turned into failures; Pretty impressive for me, hitting and contributing pretty well, but it doesn’t seem like enough. I can’t point out to anyone that God has blessed me with good things in the past and so I’m in this position where those things can be spoken about. I have no shame in admitting that God blesses all of us in our destiny with everything, we just have to work hard. So I went back to the drawing board, and I came out fresh and excited.
The team environment was great in communicating with me, keeping me relaxed and my perspective correct.

KL Rahul: Coming back from a serious injury and surgery, I’ve found that playing the last few games isn’t as easy as you think. I wanted to come and play, but finding the same touch or rhythm wasn’t as easy as I thought it would be. It’s a lesson for me as a player, happy to be able to spend some time in the middle and I started to feel good. In this format, there is confidence in hitting the first six from the middle. I think in the game against Hong Kong I got a free-kick and although I didn’t time it as well as I could, I hit the ball. off the ground and felt good. Going into the game against Pakistan I felt a little better and a couple of deflected shots gave me confidence, little by little I’m getting into a rhythm. The result was disappointing. The ideal would have been to play the final and challenge ourselves. We came to this
tournament to play the final and win the big tournament but it didn’t go the way we wanted, we took the positive.

We’ve been challenged and it’s time to sit back and reflect. Losing is not good but sometimes you have to take it as part of the journey, our vision is the World Cup and we hope the lessons learned will help us for the World Cup.
