Assam is under water for many weeks now. The condition has worsened due to huge floods in the state and more than 14 districts are working to fight this situation.

The NDRF team has been working to rescue people from the flood-affected areas. 17500 people have been rescued so far. Twenty-six NDRF teams have been deployed to rescue people.
Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has taken aerial views of the Cachar district to understand the situation. The situation is becoming grim day by day. 45 lakhs of people have been affected and death has tolled to 107.
The Barak Valley districts of Cachar, Karimganj, and Hailakandi have been severely hit by the flood and the rising water of the Barak and Kushiara rivers. Silchar town has also been submerged under water for the last four days.
According to a recent bulletin issued by the Assam State Disaster Management Authority, the worst affected districts include Barpeta, Kamrup, Dhubri, and Nagaon.
These floods caused by incessant rainfall have affected more than four thousand villages and over two lakh people have been forced to take shelter in relief camps.
Prime Minister promised to give relief funds
Prime Minister Narendra Modi assured of providing Central funds to the citizens of the flood-hit states. He said that the Center is working closely with the state government to provide all kinds of assistance to overcome this challenge.
Dalai Lama the Tibetan spiritual leader promised to donate 10 lakh rupees.
He said that it is unfortunate that the monsoon wreaks havoc year after year. He also has expressed grief over this situation and the hardship that the common people have to survive in this calamity.
Silchar Town: One of the worst affected districts.
The situation has worsened the most in the Silchar town of Assam. CM of Assam Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the IAF team will provide drinking water bottles from Guwahati to Silchar town.
Though the rainfall has decreased considerably the situation will take time to recover.
