Despite high decibel campaigning by the Mamta Banerjee’s party Trinamool Congress (TMC), the ruling Bhartiya Janta Party made a clean entry in the Tripura recent urban local bodies (ULBs) elections, the results of which were to be announced on Sunday. Elections were held for the 20 ULBs, including the Agartala Municipal Corporation, which comprises 51 wards, 13 municipal councils, and six Nagar panchayats. RBI removes business houses from banking

Reserve Bank of India(RBI) did not accept the proposal to consider large corporates and industrial houses for a banking licence. However, it allowed promoters of banks to hold up to 26% in their banks, which is a positive for many lenders, including Kotak Mahindra Bank, Induslnd Bank, CSB bank. Uganda loses its only airport to China

Reports have said that Uganda lost its only international airport, the Entebbe International Airport, to China for failing to repay the loan. The government has been unable to change the loan agreement made with China which had the repayment conditions for attaching the only airport. In 2015, China’s export-import (EXIM) Bank had lent Uganda $207 million at two percent upon the disbursement. The loan, which is meant to expand the Entebbe airport, came with a maturity period of 20 years, including a seven-year grace period.
