Apple makes a massive deal for Jason Bateman directed Project Artemis – a space race movie.
Marvel Avengers co-stars Chris Evans (Captain America) and Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow) are set to star together in Jason Bateman’s upcoming sci-fi movie ‘Project Artemis’ will be produced under Bateman’s Aggregate Films banner.
Jason Bateman, actor and executive producer in Netflix’s show Ozark will direct the film, whilst Johansson with Jonathan Lia and Kennan Flynn will serve as producers in the film with screenplay written by Rose Gilroy.
The space race will take place between the historic time of United States and Soviet Union during mid-20th century, the time when US and Russia had successfully advanced themselves in technology and were exploring beyond the Earth.
The buzz is not over here as Apple has finalized a deal of $100M+ on the in-demand package with Bateman’s space race movie after CAA cut the deal on behalf of producers for distribution rights.
Apple recently became the first streaming service to win an Oscar for Best Picture with Coda for which it paid $25M. This won’t be Apple’s first major project; Apple TV+ sci-fi series For All Mankind depicting alternative reality where space race never ended has been renewed for third season.
The company has been grabbing films like Martin Scorsese’s upcoming movie Killers of the Flower Moon and Taron Egerton starred Tetris. The following year saw the studio paying more than $200 for Argyle and untitled F1 racing movie starring Brad Pitt.
Evans has confirmed Deadline’s scoop by quoting the tweet:
The Marvel duo was last seen in ‘Avengers: End Game’ and will make an appearance together on-screen after 2019.
Johansson will also appear in Apple’s genre-bender Bride this year, whilst Evans is in the talks for Pixar’s Toy Story spin-off Lightyear and will appear in action thriller The Gray Man.
