With the introduction of Bard, a new revolution is coming in this new wave of computing filled with AI.

Alphabet Inc., the company that owns Google, announced on January 6 that it will launch a chatbot service. They also announced that AI will be available for both their search engine and developers. This is Google’s answer to Microsoft Corporation in their rivalry to lead the new era of computing.
Massive Changes
Similarly, Microsoft revealed that they will unveil their own AI on January 7. This will lead to massive changes in Silicon Valley, as even huge companies are bending towards the use of generative AI technology, which will free up the time of many workers as it has the capability to write and create prose and other content on demand.
ChatGPT
Microsoft has invested in OpenAI, the organization behind the development of the GPT-3 language model, which includes the ChatGPT model. Microsoft has integrated GPT-3 into several of its products and services, including its virtual assistant, Cortana, and its conversational AI platform, Microsoft Bot Framework.
ChatGPT’s recent success and fame have rattled Google. A chatbot from Microsoft-backed OpenAI has even changed how a person searches for information. The impact was so significant that it earned the moniker “Google Killer.”
Bard
Sundar Pichai, CEO of Alphabet or Google, announced in a blog post that the company is testing a conversational AI service called “Bard.” This beta version will collect user feedback, after which, in the coming weeks, it will be thrown open to the public.
According to Pichai, there are also plans to add AI features to search engines that will create material for complex questions or queries such as whether learning guitar or piano is easier. In simple terms, it aims to provide us with a direct answer rather than present texts or websites that exist somewhere else on the web.
The amazing thing said about Bard is that it will draw its information directly from the internet, while ChatGPT’s knowledge base is only up to date as of 2021.
Google Update
Google Search is going to be updated soon; the timing of this has not yet been disclosed. This update of its search is happening at the same time that Microsoft is doing the same for its search engine named Bing, which is getting integrated with OpenAI’s capabilities.
Behind Bard is LaMDA. It’s an AI from Google and is believed to have generated text with such skill that a company engineer last year called it sentient, though this claim was dismissed by Google and scientists.
It works similarly to ChatGPT. Pichai also said that it’s working on a version of LaMDA that requires less computing power. Hence, it can serve more users without any glitches.
Microsoft Update
Microsoft is planning to unveil all of its developments today through a press conference where CEO Satya Nadella will speak all about them. The only thing that has been finalized is that Microsoft has plans to imbue all of its products with AI. The CEO of OpenAI, Sam Altman, will also be attending the event.
ChatGPT was such a hit that it reported having 57 million visitors in December itself, which is even bigger than TikTok in terms of adoption.
