Battlefield 2042 is a first-person shooter game released in 2021 by Electronic Arts and developed by DICE. It was published on November 19, 2021, for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
So the buzz for this year’s Call of Duty is starting to grow, and given it’s a Modern Warfare game and not set in space or WW2 or whatever, I expect it to be much more successful than last year. Will it, however? Many people have been critical of the series recently, and I must confess that I haven’t played it much since the last Modern Warfare game was released.
Maybe I’m just strange, but I’ve been playing a lot of Battlefield 2042 recently. Unlike the apparent majority, I didn’t detest it when it first came out, and while the upgrades haven’t been game changers, it is gradually improving.
To me, it doesn’t really matter whether it’s the greatest Battlefield or not since that sort of game just works better for me. The more participants in a match, the longer-range combat, the vehicles, the greater focus on teamwork – it all just feels more intriguing to me.
It’s better than anything Call of Duty has done in the previous couple of years, including Warzone, in my opinion. I know the stats don’t support that, but that’s how I feel. I’m curious if anyone else feels the same way.
Super Smash Bros. Kart
I’ve been playing the new Mario Kart 8 DLC circuits, and they’re fantastic. Waluigi Pinball and Kalamari Desert are amazing, and I really enjoy the new Sydney track. The entire season pass is also terrific value for money, so I’m content to just sit back and wait for them all to come out.
I do find the lack of anti-gravity weird, given that it’s the key selling point of the original game, but as GC points out, Nintendo doesn’t seem concerned in that, preferring to push Mario Kart Tour.
It does make me question what will happen with the next numbered game, since I’d prefer them stick with the more realistic visuals from the first game
. I’d forgotten how many non-Mario characters there are in the game, so I’m excited for the series to become Smash Bros. but with karts. Given how long it’s likely to take until we see a new Smash Bros., it seems fairly guaranteed today.
The Xbox Series P
With the announcement of the new Tencent portable console, I’m left wondering why Microsoft has never attempted to create something similar. They’re not promoting their cloud gaming too hard right now because it’s still in its early stages, but I’d be shocked if they don’t attempt to promote something similar once it gets going.
They could basically make their own version of the Switch, except you wouldn’t need the doc, and it would basically always runs games that look as good as a good PC. I’m sure They’ll give it an awful name, but other from that, I’d be curious to see what Microsoft does differently than everyone else when it comes to portable designs.
Microsoft behind Sony in terms of controller design this generation, so perhaps they might test some fresh concepts this way. I’d be intrigued.
I believe the unspoken issue with these Marvel games is the difficulty in determining who you’re battling. Spider-Man almost got away with it by insinuating that he doesn’t kill any of the goons he fights (despite the fact that he absolutely would given the moves he does), but in everything else they’re constantly battling robots, which is stupid but there’s a reason for it.
I’m sure Disney doesn’t want to portray their heroes as murdering hundreds of hapless humans but that’s exactly what would happen in the average video game. The Iron Man suits are filled with lasers and rockets and who knows what, I don’t think I’ve ever seen I’m sure Disney doesn’t want to show their heroes slaughtering hundreds of helpless humanity, yet that’s precisely what happens in a typical video game. Iron Man outfits are packed with lasers, rockets, and who knows what else; I don’t think I’ve ever seen him use a tazer. So, who will he be fighting? I’m guessing robots. It was in the virtual reality game.
And who will Black Panther be fighting? They might be able to get away with Spider-defense, Man’s but he can’t web people up or hurl them out of the path. He merely has enormous claws that serve only one purpose. So probably robots once more.
The only other choice is aliens, but there aren’t many of them.
