The first event of Pakistan’s new era began with a speech by cricketer-turned-politician Imran Khan. Although US President Donald Trump has expressed his support for the Pakistani cricket legend, few people know much about the man who could soon take over from Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.Â
Khan came to power in 2018 and promised a naya pakistan, but rise of prices of basic commodities posed a big problem as he failed to address the basic problem of keeping prices in control. This gave way for the opposition party to claim him as ‘inefficient’.
The Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan addressed the nation on Friday and evoked quite a response.Â
He compared himself with leaders in India, he also noted that many Pakistani leaders only work for money and that people look down on Pakistan for foreign reliance.
He gave statements like ‘I have everything’ and was later criticized for the same.Â
One of the most important voices from the opposition party was Imran Khan’s ex wife Reham Khan.
Reham Khan, was married to Imran Khan in 2014 and divorced in 2015. Post-separation, she joined the opposition party against Imran Khan.
During an exclusive interview with India Today TV, Reham Khan lashed out at Imran Khan during Pakistan’s political turmoil, saying, “He is a celebrity diva who only wants to listen to flattery and compliments. He has this typical diva personality that he needs to pump up his ego.”
She feels he is self obsessed and has a god complex and thinks of himself as a demigod but has not done a single good deed for which he will be remembered.
Ex-wife of Khan and outspoken critic, what Khan lacks, according to Reham Khan, is brains, as the Pakistan Prime Minister stated in his speech to the country that he does not require anything because he has achieved everything in life, including fame and fortune, by God’s grace.
Reham Khan, on the other hand, concurred with Imran Khan’s perspective, saying that as a child, he saw Pakistan rise to the top. Reham Khan, who harshly criticized the address, tweeted, “Yes, Pakistan was magnificent when you weren’t the PM.”
Pakistani Prime Minister made it clear in his speech that he will not resign ahead of the no-trust vote, despite the opposition’s insistence. Imran Khan also accused the US of being the driving force behind the opposition’s no-confidence motion, which the US absolutely refuted.
“Imran Khan is delusional. He does not listen to advice. Had he listened to advice, perhaps I’d still be married to him. Perhaps others wouldn’t have left him.” said Reham Khan in a India Today exclusive interview before the crucial vote on the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan in the Pakistan National Assembly.
Reham Khan replied she felt prime minister’s speech to be ‘boring’ and ‘predictable’, when asked about his speech, by an NDTV journalist on television. She stated that this might be the end of Imran Khan’s political career and this speech was just an attempt to seek attention on the television screen.
‘He wants to become a political martyr,’ said Reham Khan mockingly. She mocks Imran Khan as he spoke about ‘insaaniyat’ (humanitarianism) and ‘insaaf’ (justice).
