On Wednesday, the Team of Bidhannagar police seized more than ₹3.85 crores while raising two flats in New Town’s Sankalpa II Housing complex.

Police reported that two brothers from Howrah, who owned and operated multiple call centres in New Town and Salt Lake, stored money safely in a hidden place.
The officers said, they raised flats after questioning two brothers, Shashi Gaurav Soni and Saurabh Soni, who got arrested on Sunday.
Praveen Prakash, The Deputy Commissioner of Police, in New Town said that they found more than 3.85 crores in cash, which was wrapped in plastic sheets. They also found eleven watches, gold rings and a cash counting machine.
According to the Deputy Commissioner, the cash had no paperwork or bank records and police had sealed 10 call centres that were owned by the Soni brothers in New Town and Salt Lake.
They have also sealed paying guest accommodation in salt lake’s BG Block which was taken by the Soni brothers for their workers.
Praveen Prakash added, that they seized two flats which are part of the ill-gotten wealth of the Soni brothers and they also used cryptocurrency to store their hidden wealth and often use hawala channels to transfer money.
Things like land Rover defender SE with ₹ 1 crore, a land Rover discovery sport, a kilo of gold, cash, deeds of flats and plots, Soni brothers after being arrested for illegally running multiple fraudulent call centres and deceiving people from abroad and India.
According to police, they were top players in call centre crime in the city.
Police also sent a team to Soni’s house in Liluah when their names surfaced while questioning four men from Ahmedabad and New Delhi, who are now arrested during raids on the call centre in New Town and Salt Lake. Based on the information given by four men, police spied on two brothers in Liluah.
