The Kashmir Files has become a topic of controversy and a sensation at the box office. The film, based on the exodus faced by Kashmiri Pandits for decades in the Valley, will now be tax-free in Bihar as well starting from March 17.
In the Legislative Council on Wednesday, Deputy Chief Minister Bihar, Tarkishore Prasad said the movie is inspired by nationalism and correctly portrays the circumstances and realities of Kashmir at the time.
Later, Prasad made the announcement on Twitter in Hindi, that ‘The Kashmir Files’ will not be charged any tax in theatres in the entire state of Bihar so that everyone in the state can watch the film with convenience and comfort.

Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka, and Haryana are among the other states that have declared The Kashmir Files tax-free.
About the Kashmir Files
The Kashmir Files produced by Zee Studios and Directed by Vivek Agnihotri is a 2022 Indian Hindi-language drama film. The movie portrays the harsh struggles of Kashmiri Pandits during the rebellion in Kashmir in 1990.
The film cast includes Anupam Kher as Pushkarnath, Mithun Chakraborty as Brahma Dutt, Darshan Kumar as Krishna Pandit, Pallavi Joshi as Radhika Menon, Bhasha Sumbali as Shraddha Pandit and Chinmay Mandlekar as Farooq Malik aka Bitta, among others.
The Kashmir Files by Vivek Agnihotri describes the tale of Genocide that occurred in Kashmir, involving the Pandits. For a long time, it was assumed that the Pandits left the Valley on vacation. In 1990, they woke up, collected their belongings, gathered their children, and moved out of the Valley in their small car.
In the formal narrative’s postscript, it was discovered that this vacation was a never-ending one that has lasted for 32 years now.
