Using artificial intelligence (AI) technology, the Bihar Police will soon be able to apprehend those engaged in illicit liquor trade and other criminal activities, according to a top police official who spoke on Friday.
He claims that the artificial intelligence system would digitise and automate all activities, removing the need for the police department to manually manage data.
“Once it is implemented, it will aid police officers in their efforts to apprehend gangs or people engaged in illicit booze trafficking in the dry state. With real-time analytics and automated processes, it will be simple to identify their area of operations “According to Kamal Kishore Singh, the additional director general (ADG) of the State Crime Records Bureau (SCRB), law enforcement agencies are already harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence (AI) in a variety of ways across the country.
The state’s liquor prohibition legislation, which went into effect in April 2016, prohibits the manufacturing, sale, and use of alcoholic beverages throughout the state.
Deputy Commissioner of Police, Singh, indicated that the Bihar Police is preparing to take the required steps to establish a specialised information technology (IT) cadre inside the force.
It has lately submitted a proposal to the Department of the Interior on the subject.
“The planned cadre will consist of around 2,000 officers and staff, including information technology inspectors and information technology constables. According to the ADG, officials from the IT cadre will be in charge of all activities using the artificial intelligence system.
He went on to say that if AI technologies were integrated into the system, they would improve the overall efficiency of the force.
From a criminal justice viewpoint, the use of artificial intelligence techniques will aid in the investigation and management of criminal activity. All papers, including criminal records, would be scanned and digitized, allowing the police department on the ground to work more efficiently. Additionally, predictive policing using artificial intelligence techniques will assist the police department in speculating about the sorts of crimes that may occur in a certain region, as well as the potential culprits. “Singh went on to say more.
