The BJP-Congress row has started once again over Rahul Gandhi’s viral video in a club in Nepal. Congress claims there is nothing wrong with attending a friend’s wedding.
The BJP has once again targeted the former Congress President, Rahul Gandhi, over a viral video on Twitter. In the video, Rahul Gandhi is seen partying at a nightclub in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu.
This has given the BJP an advantage to raise an objection. Many BJP leaders shared the video on Twitter and commented on it. The ministers slam the Congress over Rahul Gandhi’s parties in Nepal, amidst communal clashes in Rajasthan, where the party is in power.
BJP Ministers slam Rahul Gandhi for being ignorant
The IT cell incharge, Amit Malviya, said, “Rahul Gandhi was at the nightclub when Mumbai was under siege. He is still partying when Rajasthan is facing communal clashes and his party is exploding. He is the same.”
Malviya further added, “Interestingly, soon after Congress refused to outsource their presidency, hit jobs began on their prime ministerial candidate.”
On the other hand, Union Minister Kiren Rijiju asked Rahul Gandhi to stop moralising others when he himself can be seen partying. He said, “Regular parties, vacations, holidays, pleasure trips, private foreign visits, etc., are nothing new to the nation now. As a private citizen, there isn’t any issue at all. However, when it comes down to an MP, a permanent boss of a national political party, who keeps preaching to others…”
Another tweet by BJP minister Manoj Tiwari says, “Crisis looms over the Congress party, but not the family.”
BJP leader Shahnawaz Hussain claimed that although he had not seen the video, there was nothing new in Rahul Gandhi’s partying and no one stopped him anyway. He parties more and works less for his own party.
Congress replies to the allegations on their former party chief
At a press conference, Congress spokesperson Randeep Surjewala stated that Rahul Gandhi had gone to attend a friend’s wedding in Kathmandu. He stated, “Rahul Gandhi went to a friendly country, Nepal, to participate in a private marriage function of a friend. He also happens to be a journalist.
Surjewala further added that earlier, maintaining relations, having family and friends was not a crime in our community and culture. Attending marriages is a matter of our culture and civilization.
Further, Congress MP Mahua Moitra also tweeted about the video where she asked what it has to do with the BJP or anybody else, whether Rahul Gandhi is partying or not in his private time. Reverting to a BJP leader’s tweet about Rahul Gandhi partying during the Mumbai blast of 2008, Mahua Moitra said, “Sick BJP mentality should stick to what they do best—leading double lives with beer in teapots.”
