Netizens’ anger was unleashed on Gaana and other music streaming apps for providing a platform for songs that glorify the beheading of individuals in name of religion.
People argue that the song- “Gustakh-e-Nabi ki ek hi saja, Sar tan se Juda” is being used in reels and short videos to issue concealed threats to non-Muslims.
Religious tensions soared in India with ex- BJP member Nupur Sharma’s controversial comment on Prophet Mohammad which attracted criticism not within the country but also around the world. This was followed by the barbaric killing of Kanhaiya Lal, a tailor in Rajasthan, who posted a status in support of Ms. Sharma; few days later same kind of crime took place in Mumbai’s Amravati. The two events shook the nation completely with everyone now questioning “Are these brutal killings justifiable at all”?
The song roughly means, that beheading is the only punishment for those who insult Prophet Mohammad. The song attracted criticisms from many Twitter users and now the Netizens are demanding a clamp down on these music streaming platforms and strict action against those who are trying to justify violence under the pretext of religion.
One user wrote Any person who is found using these songs or such lyrics should be immediately apprehended and jailed for antinational activities.
While entire nation is shaken by the barbaric killing of Kanhaiyalal in #Udaipur & murder of Umesh Kolhe in #Amravati after the ‘Sar Tan se Juda’ calls given by religious fanatics linked to #NupurSharma ..It is shocking that same calls have appeared on apps, tweeted yet another user.
Sharing his view one twitter user said: Strict action against these social platforms should be taken for instigating violence against Hindus. This shows these music platforms are anti Hindu & anti India & they are posing serious threat to the integrity of the nation.
Diversity is identity of our nation, and peace & harmony between different groups is essential to achieve our shared goal of development and prosperity.
