The MTV Video Music Awards (VMA) will be held on Monday, 29th August, between 5:30 to 7:30 am (Indian Standard Time). The Korean pop sensations BTS and Blackpink have bagged seven nominations at the MTV Video Music Awards.
Both BTS and Blackpink got nominated for the Group of the Year award. Furthermore, in the same category, other groups that got nominated for the award are – Red Hot Chilli Peppers, Imagine Dragons, Silk Sonic, Maneskin, City Girls, and Foo Fighters.
Ever since MTV shared the news on its social media channels, K-pop fans all over the world reshared the post and expressed their excitement and happiness.

BTS has won awards in several categories at MTV Video Music Awards consecutively for three years. This year, they are nominated across six categories: Song of the Summer, Best Visual Effects, Best K-pop, Best Metaverse Performance, Best Choreography, and Group of the Year. On the other hand, Blackpink, another K-pop sensation, is also a nominee for the Group of the Year award.Â
Moreover, Blackpink will perform at the MTV Video Music Awards 2022. This will be a historic moment as it will be the first time a K-pop girl group will perform at MTV VMA.
BTS member Jungkook and Charlie Puth’s recent collaboration on the song ‘Left and Right’, released on June 24th, get nominated for the Song of Summer Category. Furthermore, in the Best Visual Effects category, Coldplay and BTS song ‘My Universe’, released last year, is nominated. In addition, the BTS song ‘Permission to Dance’ is nominated for the Best Choreography category.
For the Best K-pop category, alongside BTS, Itzy, Lisa, Seventeen, Stray Kids, and Twice are the other nominees. In addition, BTS gets nominated for its ‘Yet to Come (The most beautiful moment) song.
The MTV Music Video Awards will happen at Prudential Center, Newark, New Jersey.
