BTS’ leader RM (Rap Monster) on July 1, Thursday got appointed as the public relations ambassador for South Korea’s Ministry of National Defence, prior to his anticipated military service. Pictures from the appointment ceremony have been going viral, and BTS fans who also like to call themselves BTS’ army has been cheering and supporting RM.
It was first reported that discussions were under place to have him become the official public relations ambassador for the Excavation Team of the South Korean Ministry of National Defence. His label, BIGHIT MUSIC, soon confirmed the rumors and issued the following statement. On May 31, the BTS member’s music company BIGHIT MUSIC officially announced his selection as the Public Relations Ambassador. Further information revealed that the BTS member’s official appointment ceremony will take place on June 1.
RM, whose real name is Kim-Nam Joon, is going to represent the ministry’s special organization known as MAKRI which stands for Ministry’s Killed in Action Recovery & Identification Organization. The MAKRI organization works to recover the remains of people who sacrifice their lives in the wars and returns them to the families of deceased war heroes.
RM will be in charge of promoting the organization and its initiatives as its public relations ambassador. In the upcoming days, RM will represent and promote the organization and its many projects as part of his responsibilities as the public relations ambassador. He will be expected to take part in numerous activities. Previously, the ambassadors had been veteran MC Song Hae and Kyung Deok, making RM the third ambassador in history.

All donned up in his black suit attire, Kim Namjoon looked sharp at the event. During the ceremony, the RM gave a short speech. The BTS member said, “Hello, I’m RM of BTS,” according to the translation provided by Twitter user @@Nousseiba09. “First of all, it is an honor to serve as the Ambassador of Promotion and be in the company of such esteemed visitors at the Ministry of Defence Excavation Team. It’s the tenth anniversary of BTS’s debut now. Through various songs and campaigns, we have delivered a range of messages over the last ten years. However, we gave it a lot of thought as to how we could provide our fans and the people of Korea some love in return.”
“I firmly believe that the fact that I and BTS are able to stand here in 2024 is because of the numerous individuals who worked hard in their duties until this land, which had been devastated by periods like the Korean War, could change so beautifully. I am extremely grateful and respectful,” he added
As per the various news sources on June 13, 2024, the septet will mark the tenth anniversary of its debut, and a celebration in the form of their yearly festival has been arranged. On June 9 at 1:30 PM KST (9:30 AM IST), BTS will release a new song called “Take Two” as part of this.
